Working Together
We believe that progress is greatest when school and parents work together to ensure the best outcomes for the children. Regular reports each term provide carers and parents with information on pupils’ progress and attainment. You are always able to make appointment to discuss your child’s progress directly with the teacher.
There is an active Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, who are supporting the school in fundraising and community events. We have good town centre links and embrace all the benefits that this brings.
PTA
At St. Mary’s school we have a fantastic PTA which is actively involved in the life of the school. All parents, guardians and staff are welcome as members.
The PTA has regular meetings which are open to everyone. They organise a range of events throughout the year which help to enrich the curriculum for pupils and raise funds which contribute to improvements within school and the purchasing of resources for children. Meetings are advertised on the school newsletter, website and in the infant cloakroom window. If you would like to attend the next meeting, have any suggestions or questions or simply want to find out any more information, please contact Miss Gulliver in Reception class.
Local Churches
The school also has active links with many churches in the local community. Clergy lead Collective Worship sessions from our three supporting churches: St. Mary’s, St. Paul’s and St. George’s. Our pupils also make regular visits to these churches e.g. the Reception class nativity, for the Summer Term mass, or when our school choir sings at the Willowbank Community Carol Service. We also have strong links with two local Methodist churches, Emmaunel Church on Huddersfield Road and Pogmoor Methodist Church.
