Welcome to Year 5
In year 5, we have our teacher Miss Ryan and we also have Mrs Parker and Mrs Baruah to help us with our learning. We are a class who love to learn, wonder, question and have fun all at the same time. This year will bring new experiences and challenges but we all know that it is through being challenged that our understanding will develop and it is how we will become independent learners.
Homework will be sent out every Thursday and will be due back in school the following Wednesday.
We will be doing PE on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Please ensure your child has their P.E kit in school. For health and safety reasons your child should not wear jewellery on these days – especially earrings. They must have appropriate footwear too, either trainers or pumps.
In year 5 we love to read! Reading with your child as often as possible is very beneficial. It is helpful if you could record the pages you have read with your child in their reading record book. As the children are becoming more independent, they can record any independent reading themselves by writing a short summary of what they have read. Children can bring their own independent reading book into school from home if they would like to but they must ensure they have it to hand each day. There is a selection of books in the school library for children to choose from too!
Rewards in Year 5!
We have lots of rewards in Class 5 to praise fantastic behaviour! Children can earn chance cards and Star of the Week awards and have the opportunity to work together as a class to fill the Star Wall! Collecting 10 stars can only mean one thing- PRIZES!
If you have any questions about this year, please do not hesitate to ask myself, Mrs Parker or Mrs Baruah. We are more than happy to help.
