Year Two have enjoyed their current DT unit…
They have tried different ingredients, produced recipes and made their own salsas- which tasted delicious. Well done Year Two.

The pupils did fruit tasting before they practised their skills in chopping and slicing. Then finally they could eat their own creation.
We are researching materials they are made from and what structures work best. We will be working on our designs over the half term.
We are ready to write our own instructions later this week!
Today, year 1 have been writing instructions as the pupils made their own pumpkin soup… they then got to try it! The pupils all practised their chopping skills and discussed the ingredients needed to make the tasty soup.
We had them made by our excellent catering team. They were then served as desert options to the pupils at lunch time. Well done to everyone involved!
Our STEM projects in Year Three are simply brilliant. The pupils enjoyed using ICT to power their creations. They used their coding skills to programme and were delighted with the results.
Our Year Three pupils have started a series of nine sessions at Barnsley Library to work on a programme to develop the children’s understanding of stem learning. The pupils have enjoyed starting these lessons. We will share the final projects at the end of the course with parents.
Year 3 have spent time analysing and tasting different sandwich fillings before designing and refining their own sandwiches. The children really enjoyed creating their own sandwiches , then taste testing them with their friends. Finally, the children evaluated their sandwiches, thinking about what changes they might make next time to improve it.
This week in RE, we have been looking at Advent leading up to Christmas. We looked at Advent Wreaths that we might find in churches and then we made our own Advent Wreaths.
For our topic of Traditional Tales this week our story focus was The Gingerbread Man. We designed our Gingerbread Men and used our Phonics knowledge to write our shopping list of the ingredients we would need. We then all had a go at weighing, mixing and cutting out the dough. Once they were baked we decorated them and they seemed to all disappear before the end of the day…!
We completed a carousel of DT skills activities in preparation of making our models of new town developments. We did some cutting, making of 3D nets, attaching cylinders, measuring and sawing wood, gluing different materials to make frames and adding triangles to strengthen our creations.
