Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Who are we?

Our names are Miss Pollard and Mrs Copley and we both teach Year Four.

Reading in Year Four…

Reading with your child as often as possible is essential to their progress. We will be providing your child with a reading record to document their reading journey at home, please fill this in whenever your child has read with you, thank you.

Homework

Times Tables

In Year 4, children will carry out a Multiplication check near the end of the year, checking their knowledge on all multiplications up to 12x12. Please practise these as much as you can with your child. We will be carrying out lots of activities in class to help consolidate as well as the use of Times Table Rockstars. We will also be carrying out a weekly times table test every Friday on a set multiplication which will be given each week this is to help break down the learning of multiplications.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday night. Children are expected to practise spellings by writing them out. They can also put them into sentences. This will help with their sentence structure and use of punctuation. Children will be tested on these spellings every Friday.

General Reminders…

  • Year Four’s PE days are Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday Ms Saynor will be teaching the PE session. Children must come to school in PE kit on these days. For health and safety reasons, your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings. They must have appropriate footwear too.
